先週のグローバルビレッジのイベントは、世界の国の文字アートでした。留学生や日本人学生が一緒になり、古典的な文字のスタイルから現代的な文字のスタイル、中央アジア、東アジア、中東、ヨーロッパなどさまざまな国や地方の文字のスタイルを比較した後、自分の好きなデザインの文字を筆やペンを使って書いてみました。文字から、世界の文化が見えるワークショップでした。次回は11月9日（水）お昼休み：英語で知る南部まがりやについてです。参加は無料, 学びは無限！ランチ持参でOK。奮ってご参加ください。

For last week's Global Village event, we enjoyed a presentation and workshop about calligraphy from around the world. We explored the beauty of classical and modern script styles from Central and East Asia, the Middle East, and European traditions. We then practiced our own calligraphic designs on worksheets using ink brushes and angled pens for a variety of artistic effects.

Our next Global Village event is an introductory presentation about Iwate's beloved architectural heritage--the Nanbu Magariya-style farmhouse. Join us this Wednesday, November 9, from 12-1pm at the Global Village Lounge (Student Center B). All are welcome, and admission is free. Bring your curiosity, your friends, and your lunch!
